| Anyone who has fallen in love with Lausanne knows it is never far. Coming by air, the journey from Geneva-Cointrin airport to Lausanne by rail or motorway is a mere sixty kilometres. The harbour on Lake Geneva, at which magnificent historic vessels stop, constitutes the south and most romantic approach to the city. Approaching from the north, east and west, motorways provide access to Lausanne. And a steady stream of cheerful visitors brought to Lausanne on trains from all over Switzerland and Europe livens up the city centre.
What’s more, Lausanne is very close to Montreux and Chillon Castle, Zermatt with the Matterhorn, the Jungfrau, Lucerne, the delightful historic town of Gruyère, the Diablerets Glacier and the Vaud Alps, or indeed the French resort of Chamonix.
